Create a Short URL for your clinic that is easy to share
You can create a Short URL for your clinic that will be easy to remember and share with your patients. This URL will be shorter and therefore easier to manage when typing in to a browser etc. See below for how to create your Clinic's Short URL, but first let's look at the difference between your clinic's default URL and the Short URL - which will both provide access to your Clinic Waiting Area.
The default URL for your clinic
The Waiting Area URL for your clinic is the URL (web address) you give your patients so they can arrive in your clinic waiting area once they start a Video Call. This URL can be found on the right hand side of your clinic waiting area in the Video Call platform. Each clinic is already configured with a Short URL when it is created and this short URL appears on the RHS of the clinic waiting area, under Waiting Area Settings.

Share the link to your Waiting Area This is the link you copy and send to patients and clients so they can access the clinic waiting area. It can also be sent using the SMS or Email function, directly from the platform. The short URL for the clinic is the one that appears in this section (unless you configure a Custom URL which then replaces the clinic link and provides entry via a custom website for the clinic or organisation). |

To modify the short URL for your clinic, go to Configure > Waiting Area and scroll down to the bottom to find Short URL. You can modify the Short URL path, if desired and then click Save. Your short URL will update. |

A short URL is different to your clinic's Unique Domain The default URL for your clinic is located in Configure >Waiting Area tab under Share waiting area. This link can be copied and shared with patients. It will go to exactly the same place as the clinic Short URL.

The default URL can be modified in the Clinic configuration section:

In this example, the Unique Domain has been changed from acmecardiology to acmecardio. Once saved, the clinic URL will be updated and you will also see this change in the default URL. |

A Short URL is different to your clinic's Unique Domain

Example: Full clinic URL: https://vcc.healthdirect.org.au/t/acmecardio/join The short URL would be: https://videocall.direct/acmecardio |
Both of these URLs will take the patient to the Acme Cardiology clinic waiting area once they start a Video Call. The Short URL is a more convenient way to share the clinic link for your waiting area, hence this is the default that can be copied under Share the link to your Waiting Area in the clinic. |
